NOW LIVE! MY ACCOUNT

Dear travelers and travel arrangers,

It is with great enthusiasm that we announce that Travisa Passport and Visa Service has launched My Account!

My Account is the place for you to manage all of their documents securely while remaining in compliance with government regulations.

You can place orders as well as store scans of two passports, dual citizenship or second valid passports, and the visas that are in each of those documents.  There is also an area to upload support documents such as a driver’s license, birth certificate, and other travel documents.  Travelers can have secure access to their documents 24/7 by logging into My Account from anywhere that your travels take you.

Let My Account help you with travel document management and compliance.  Visa and passport renewal date reminders will also be sent out to proactively remind you about important deadlines. An added benefit of My Account is that you can share this information securely with trusted individuals, such as travel arrangers, executive assistants, attorneys, schools, and family members.

In December a companywide video contest was run to showcase My Account.  You can view the winning video from our Houston office at www.travisa.com/My_account.

I believe that these enhancements to our offering will be a tremendous benefit to all that travel internationally. We are confident that you will find these tools useful and we thank you for your business!

Kim Conway,

General Manager

Did You Know?

The United States government recommends that US citizens register international travel plans with the US Embassy(ies) in the countries where they will be traveling. This form is for US citizens.
Embassy registration allows the U.S. government official to:

  • Notify you in case of any life threatening situation in the foreign country or evacuation of U.S. citizens.
  • Contact your family in the U.S. in case of emergency.
  • Contact you if there is an emergency at home or inform the authorized person from your registration how to contact you.
  • Expedite the application of renewing or replacing your U.S. passport, if your passport is stolen or lost.

Consular Updates

China:

The Chinese Consulates in San Francisco and New York have informed Travisa that the regular visa processing time will change to 6 business days, and rush processing will now take 3 business days.

The Chinese Consulate in Houston will now require 10 business days for regular visa processing.  No rush service is currently available in Houston, though applicants traveling in less than 10 days should contact Travisa and provide an itinerary along with the visa application.  We may be able to expedite processing in these special cases.

Weekly Feature: Why American Travelers Should Hold Two Valid US Passports

In 2014, the United States passport was ranked 1st (tied with Germany, Sweden, United Kingdom, and Finland) in terms of travel freedom.  Just imagine the possibility if you held two valid US Passports...

Most travelers know that in order to leave their home country, holding a valid passport is the critical first step.  However, what most travelers do not know it is possible to apply for a second valid US passport.  This is not just for secret agents!  Ordinary US citizens who travel frequently or travel to certain destinations may find this a very handy way to ensure they can always depart at a moment's notice.

Though a second passport will only be valid for two years, it can help you gain access to countries while traveling, reduce your risk of being stuck if your passport is lost, and even allow you to better manage your visa processing when you're out of town. If you travel internationally often (or plan on increasing your international adventures), here are good reasons to consider requesting a duplicate passport book.

Expedite visa processing with a second passport book

The visa application process can be lengthy for certain countries or depending on the purpose of journey. If you can't be grounded in the US while your passport is lodged at a consulate, having a second passport book allows you to submit one with your visa application while using the other for travel.

Reduce your risk of being stuck by a lost passport

Every traveler fears losing their passport when traveling abroad; while applying for an emergency passport replacement is possible, the process can be difficult and unpleasant to begin with. If you don't have all of your information in hand, going through the process for emergency replacement can be delayed.

If you are thinking of applying for a second passport you are in good company!

Albert Einstein, opted for a second passport in 1933 to better his odds of becoming a U.S. citizen after the Nazi regime raided his house, confiscated his property, and seized his bank accounts.

Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computer, used his second passport to build a residency in Austria, where he intends to live and become a full-fledged citizen

Travisa Can Help

You'll need a letter to the U.S. State Department detailing your reasons for needing a second passport (i.e., you're applying for a visa in another country and that country needs your first passport for application processing, or because of restrictive policies of your destination country), and an itinerary to back up this request.  Templates are available on Travisa's Second Valid Passport instructions page.

Getting a second passport can be a big help for busy international travelers. Just plan it out, call Travisa and - like Einstein and Wozniak - you, too, can add to your travel wanderlust.

Conde Nast Traveler: Top 20 Cities for Tourists

Can't decide where to go next? MasterCard's annual Global Destination Cities Index shows you which cities are the most popular with tourists.

Every year, MasterCard puts together a Global Destination Cities Index, which tracks airline ticket purchases, souvenir purchases, and other travel spending data to figure out which cities are the most popular with tourists.

20. Lima, Peru

A relative newcomer to the MasterCard index, Lima's rise shows a growing interest in South American tourism. Many travelers who want to visit Machu Picchu begin their journey in Lima, but the city is a destination in its own right, with a burgeoning foodie scene and a historic city center that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
